Welcome to Bachelor's Cooking. Today we'll teach you to make Sandwich (for Pregnancy).
We generally have sandwich for breakfast but if this sandwich is eaten during pregnancy, you'll get all the nutrients needed for maintaining your health.
We'll make quite a healthy sandwich which tastes good as well. So, you need not worry.
For this we'll need the following ingredients :
We'll need Bread, Beet Root, Curry Leaves, Mint Leaves, Tomato, Spinach, Green Chilli, Onions,
Coriander Leaves, Beetroot slices, Coriander powder, Salt, Red Chilli Powder and Turmeric Powder.
Firstly, we'll prepare the filling for the Sandwich.
We have here, Pudina, which will be used to make Chutney. This will be applied on the bread.
To make this sandwich, you can use Whole Wheat Bread so that it becomes healthier.
Since we intend to make a healthy Sandwich, it'll be good to use Whole Wheat Bread.
We'll make the stuffing first, and then the Sandwich.
Take 1 1/2 tsp oil on a pan. When the oil becomes hot, we'll add some chopped onions.
Here, we have used Spring onions. You may use otherwise as well.
Now, we'll add some Curry leaves. This also contains Vitamin C. And it gives out a good flavor.
Add Green Chillies as per taste.
If you want it spicy, you can add chillies. Else, you can avoid adding the same.
We'll add around 50-60 gms Beetroot which have been grated. This contains sugar which will be a good source of energy.
Moodswings are common during pregnancy. One may not feel like eating anything. Or would feel like avoiding certain other things.
This will reduce your mood swings. It contains Folic Acid which will be beneficial for your child.
What we'll do now is, add some dry Masala to it.
Add 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder, 1/4 tsp Red Chilli Powder, 1/4 tsp Coriander Powder.
Now, we'll add salt as per taste.
Mix this well and then, add 2 finely chopped Tomatoes.
After adding Tomatoes, we'll add something that is one of the most important food during pregnancy.
I.e. Spinach. So, we'll add around 150 gms of Spinach which is finely chopped.
Whenever you make any Spinach related dish, do add Tomatoes to it.
Spinach contains Iron which will only be absorbed when there's Vitamin C. And hence, add the Tomatoes.
What we have to do now is, add a little amount of Salt.
We'll add some Salt and cook this until the extra moisture is drained out.
If there is extra moisture, the Sandwich will become soggy and sticky.
It won't be crispy. So, we need to drain the moisture. And prepare it well like how a stuffing would be.
Let it cook for around 5-6 minutes on low flame.
Till the the moisture will be completely gone.
The moisture isn't there anymore.
You can now turn off the flame. We'll begin with the further process.
Take some bread slices on a plate. Add some melted butter on them.
Also apply the Pudina Chutney which was made earlier.
After applying the Chutney, we'll put some of the stuffing on the bread and press it,
so that when it goes into the toaster, the mixture spreads evenly by itself.
Along with the mixture, we'll add some raw Beetroot slices to it. Raw Beetroot has a lot of Folic Acid, when its cooked, the quantity of Folic Acid reduces a bit.
So we'll add some raw Beetroot slices, so that you get Folic Acid on a greater scale.
Now, cover the bread slices and press it slightly.
Add a bit of butter / oil / ghee onto the slices.
We've now stuffed the sandwich well and pressed it.
If you have a toaster, you may grill it. Or you can take a pan and add some butter.
Adding butter to a Sandwich always gives a good flavor to it.
Keep the slices of bread one by one.
Press the slices of bread, and fry it until they become crispy.
Fry till it gets a crispy coating. If you are cooking it this way, keep pressing it slightly.
Spread a small quantity of butter on the bread slices. Now, flip the slices upside down.
Cook it until the Sandwich becomes crispy.
You may later cut the slices into a triangular shape.
Even if you eat 2 slices at breakfast, it will serve as a complete meal during pregnancy.
You'll get Iron, Calcium and other nutrients through this.
So, defintely try this.
